The spring of 1944. On the narrow isthmus of Perekop, connecting the mainland with the Crimean peninsula, one of WWII's most unusual frontlines is unfolding: over 600,000 soldiers equipped with 10,000 heavy weapons are stationed on a 16-kilometre-long stretch of land.
